A Roman name for someone who lived in the Attica region that surrounds Athens in Greece. Associated with attorney Atticus Finch, from Lee Harper's famed 1960 novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird." The 1962 film adaptation received three Academy Awards. In popular use in 1881, then completely faded away until reappearing again in 2004. Actor Billy Crudup and actress Mary-Louise Parker named their son William Atticus.
