Toyota Sedans and Crossovers Recalled

Date:
October 17, 2013
Category:
Cars
Company/Brand:
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
The Danger:
Water from the air conditioning condenser unit housing could leak onto the airbag control module and cause a short circuit, resulting in illumination of the airbag warning light. In some instances, the air bag(s) could become disabled or could inadvertently deploy. The power steering assist function could also become inoperable if a communication line in the airbag control module is damaged. Loss of power steering assist results in increased steering effort. There have been two minor injuries and no accidents reported.
Description:
The recall includes about 803,000 2012 and 2013 Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, and Venza vehicles in the U.S.
Sold At:
Car dealerships nationwide.
What To Do:
Return vehicles to a Toyota dealer for repair. Dealers will apply sealant and install a cover to the air conditioning condenser unit housing seam located above the airbag control module. For more information, call the company at (800) 331-4331 or go online to toyota.com/recall.
