Britax Boulevard Car Seats Recalled

Date:
November 22, 2006
Category:
Car Seats
Company/Brand:
Britax
The Danger:
In certain conditions (when the car seat is forward-facing and the child weighs more than 50 pounds) the top tether hook can open and release from the tether anchor. In the event of a crash, the car seat could tilt from an upright to a reclining position, increasing the risk of injury.
Description:
The recall includes Britax Boulevard car seats with the model number E9L57, manufactured from March 1, 2006, to August 1, 2006. The date of manufacturer and model number may be found on the white label located near the top of the car seat on the child's left side under the cover.
Sold At:
Mass merchandisers and independent juvenile retailers for $300.
What To Do:
Britax will notify all registered owners and will provide labels and instructions advising them to stop using the top tethers when the child weighs more than 50 pounds. You may continue to use the top tether in the rear-facing installations for all recommended weight ranges; as well as continue to use the car seat forward-facing until your child weighs 50 pounds. For more information, contact Britax at (800) 683-2045 or visit www.britaxusa.com.
