November 20, 2007
Car Seats
The Danger:
The backing of the seat pad on certain stand-alone SnugRide Infant car seats may be prone to deterioration or tearing, especially after washing. Children may be able to remove the padding from the seat, which poses a choking hazard.
This notice does not affect SnugRide car seats sold with a stroller as part of a Travel System.
This issue does not affect the ability of the car seat to protect children in the event of a crash.
The recall includes 304,675 Graco SnugRide car seats with the following model numbers. The serial number and date of manufacture can be found on a label on the lower back of the car seat.
Sold At:
Mass merchandisers, specialty retailers, and department stores from August 2006 to June 2007 for $69 to $89.
What To Do:
Graco will notify registered owners to let them know how they can obtain a free replacement kit. For additional information, contact Graco at (800) 345-4109 or visit www.gracobaby.com.
You can continue using the car seat until you get the replacement kit, but you should check the seat pad to make sure it stays intact and avoid washing it unnecessarily.
