I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after having my son a few years ago. My husband and I decided to have another child. I'm only a few weeks into this pregnancy and my pain is unbearable. Anyone with fibromyalgia have any pointers? I do low impact stretching and exercise, I have also been in and out of chiropractors offices.
Pregnant women with fibromyalgia often experience significant pain, fatigue, and psychological stress, especially in the first three months. Unfortunately at this time, there are no medications that are completely safe to use during pregnancy that help with fibromyalgia. If need be, certain painkillers and antidepressants may be continued, but talk with your practitioner first. If you are looking to deal with the pain in a drug-free manner, think about routine massages, yoga, meditation, exercise, accupuncture and rest. If fatigue is your biggest symptom, take a few 20 to 30 minute naps during the day. If you have body aches or tender points, try moist heat applications and massage. Gentle stretching and accupuncture also offer some women great relief. And, since pregnancy is a time of stress and stress certainly can trigger an exacerbation of your symptoms, try meditation and exercise to decrease stress levels. Also talk about your symptoms with family members, friends and your practitioner.
