Most pre-packaged baby foods found in supermarkets contain just the ingredients listed on the label and no additional preservatives. This means they tend to spoil quickly, so don't buy in bulk. What the label won't tell you is if the vegetables or fruits were exposed to pesticides or other chemicals.
So if you're very concerned, look for baby foods that are certified organic, since these have to be grown without the use of pesticides, or make your own baby food with organic produce. If you go the DIY route, we recommend investing in a mini food processor or hand blender -- it'll make the pureeing much easier.
