Berries can be an allergy trigger (especially strawberries), but don't tend to cause the type of severe life-threatening reactions that parents fear most. For most babies, it's safe to offer a few cut-up pieces of berries (serving them whole can be a choking hazard) or some berry-based jam on bread or crackers around 12 months. If allergies run in your family, or if your baby has signs of other food or seasonal allergies, eczema, or asthma, your pediatrician may recommend waiting longer to try them. Don't be surprised if you spot some seeds (like from raspberries and strawberries) or the skins of blueberries in your baby's diaper afterward. These can be hard for a baby to digest and often just pass right through their systems.
