I am pregnant with twins and just reached 12 weeks. I went cliff diving recently, where I was 5-10 feet above the water. It was safe and away from other rocks. I jumped about 10 times. Afterwards, rowing back to land, I felt fine but hungry and with an earache that I'm treating with baby oil. There has been no pain or bleeding, but I'm so worried. Did I hurt my two babies?
Any type of sport or past time that involves a large jolt to the uterus is dangerous and not recommended at any point during pregnancy. Even a small shearing force can cause part of the placenta to separate from the wall of the uterus (called a placental abruption), which is obviously dangerous for a baby or babies. It is probably most dangerous in the second and third trimesters when the uterus and placenta are a larger size. I would recommend two things: 1) Get checked out by an OBGYN for reassurance that things are fine with your twins, and 2) Don't engage in cliff diving or any other contact sport or hobby while pregnant.
