How can I help my 3-year-old talk and talk clearly?

My 3-year-old boy is not speaking very much. He speaks very unclear he only says Mama and Dada clearly. I notice he understands mostly everything I say but he just speaks like a baby still. He does everything else like jump, run, play pretend with cars, books, and stuffed animals, etc. What should I do to help him?

You should consider a speech and language evaluation as well as a hearing test.

You can help by using single words to describe items, instead of full sentences (how you might learn if you were learning a foreign language). You can also encourage your child to use his words instead of giving him what he wants when he asks for them by pointing or yelling at you or using sign language.
