If it's a girl, will I go into labor earlier?

Q: This is my third pregnancy and it's a girl. My other two children are both boys. I carried both boys full term and was induced with both. I've heard that girls can come earlier even if your other children didn't. Is that true or just a myth?

A: It is a myth. We don't even know yet the full reason how and why women go into labor. We know some of the chemical components and hormones that appear to elevate prior to labor, but we don't know what mechanism or component of the pregnancy sends the signals to initiate labor. Chances are, if you did not go into spontaneous labor in your prior pregnancies, this one may follow the same course.
