Can I bleach my hair during pregnancy?
While there's no proof that the chemicals in hair bleach -- like peroxide or ammonia -- cause birth defects, miscarriages, or any other complications, there are also no reliable studies that prove that bleaching your body hair is totally safe. Since it's likely that these chemicals will be absorbed through the skin and can reach your baby, it's best to avoid using them -- especially in the first trimester, when much of your baby's crucial development is taking place. If you decide to bleach after that, leave the products on your skin for as short a time as possible and keep the room well-ventilated.
