Jamie A. Freishtat, M.D., FAAP is a board certified pediatrician, a mom of two boys, and currently serves as a Safety Advocate, National Spokesperson, and Blogger for Safe Kids USA (www.SafeKids.org). She has spent the past ten years educating parents and caretakers about pediatric issues through different venues. Dr. Jamie has extensive television, print, and interactive media experience. She also serves as a Spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics. From 2006-2009, Dr. Jamie was a member of MommyDocs LLC, a company that created and ran a successful website for moms providing practical pediatric information from the standpoint of both a doctor and a mom. After graduating from Colgate University, Dr. Jamie returned to her home state where she obtained her M.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. It was here that her strong interest in pediatrics developed. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. Following this, she and her husband (who is also a pediatrician), returned to Washington D.C. to settle and raise their family. Dr. Jamie likes to think of herself as “on call” 24/7 for her family, friends, and community regarding any pediatric issue that may arise. She lives in the Washington DC area with her husband, Rob, two sons, Nate, age 10, and Max, age 8, and their family dog, Brownie.
