Can stress make my child sick?
It might, indirectly. Just like adults, kids can experience headaches and stomachaches when they're anxious or nervous, and stress can also exacerbate chronic conditions like asthma. Prolonged bouts of stress (like if there's a problem at home) can disrupt a child's sleeping and eating patterns, weakening her immune system and making her more vulnerable to contagious bugs like colds, strep throat, and flu. Making sure your child sleeps well, eats healthfully, and gets enough exercise can help boost her immune system and prevent even little everyday stresses from taking a physical toll on her health.
