Got Questions? We've got answers from experts and parents who've been there.
Is it better for my baby to be sleeping in our room with us or in a separate room? Most sources seem to agree that for the first 2 months the baby is better off in the room with you, but after the first 2-3 months is where it begins to vary. Some say the baby will sleep better if in your room and others say the baby will sleep better in a separate room.
Follow your own heart! No one knows your baby as well as you do, and no one knows better what will make your life easier as a new mom. I don't believe that there is any clear "scientific" answer to your question--but your own intuitions about your own and your baby's best interest is likely to be on target. Mothers often need support in doing what their empathy for their baby tells them to do--following their impulses here sometimes feels so good that mothers get suspicious that there must be something wrong with it!
You can always adopt a flexible approach. You can try one thing and if it doesn't seem to be working out, you can transition into something else.
